FinLegal’s New Feature: AI Medical Record Summaries
FinLegal Joins AWS to Advance Medical Record Summary Technology
Recently, FinLegal was selected as one of ten companies to work with the Amazon AWS team. An honor in itself, we wanted to make sure that we were using the time wisely and addressing one of the most sought-after technology features for injury focused law firms – medical record summaries.
Advancing AI-Driven Medical Record Summaries Through Strategic Collaboration with AWS in London
FinLegal’s AI team traveled to London to meet with top Amazon AWS leaders in an effort to build a full solution. And boy did we! Over the last few weeks, we have partnered with law firms to build out custom AI Generated medical record summaries based on thousands of medical record pages. Our first round of generation posed the usual AI problems, mostly relating to citations of the medical records. However, after reviewing the summaries from the law firm, we are on a path to refinement.
Revolutionizing Case Preparation: AI-Powered Summaries Deliver Significant Time and Cost Savings for Legal Teams
Our in-platform AI solution is on a path to drastically reduce the number of hours required by legal teams to review thousands of pages of medical records for a single case and create a causal connection to the injury. Our first time around showed us the number of hours needed to produce these summaries and, more importantly, how much it is going to cost per document (and from our research, it’s going to save you a lot of money).
Ethical Guidelines and Considerations
However, with anything AI related, the Ethical Guidelines surrounding the use of AI in legal documents must be mentioned. Most importantly: attorneys should not treat AI as a replacement for human judgment or legal expertise; Attorneys must disclose their use of AI to their clients and the court; Attorneys need to explore and understand the limitations of AI tools; and, Attorneys must take responsibility for whatever they produce with the help of AI. (For more on the ethical rules surrounding the use of AI, please see American Bar Association Model Rules of Professional Conduct 1.1, 1.4, 1.6, 1.15, and 5.3.)
Conclusion
We here at FinLegal are so proud to be on the forefront of AI technology and are constantly evolving with new features. But, all great things take time, we hope to have this feature fully integrated into our Platform by October 2025.
